TOWER OF HEAVEN RIVALS OF AETHER PC
It was first released on the PC on March 2017, but got a exclusive Xbox One re-release. As a third party, it's main protagonist, Zetterburn, was included in the roster of Super Smash Bros. For Nintendo Switch as a DLC character, due to him not being finished for the final product. Since the Rivals Of Aether universe only has two games to draw material from, it has somewhat minimal representation: it features one character, one assist trophy, several music tracks, and 2 stages. Zetterburn doesn't have a place in the Story Mode, and oddly, his home stage in Tower of Smash is Norfair X, even though he has his own home stages.

His moveset is very similar to his moveset in his home game, due to it being similar to Smash, with additional new attacks to account for the ones he's missing in the translation from RoE to Smash Switch. In turn, he can be considered as a semi-clone of Fox, and Wolf. He has a unique quirk, in that he can burn his opponents with certain attacks, causing them to take continuous damage for some time, and strengthen his KO power. He is a balanced, easy to learn fighter with strong sweet spots. He shares the same spot as the other DLC character on the character select screen.

Gameplay in general favors offense more than defense compared to Smash Bros. attacks can only be blocked by executing a timed "parry" rather than holding up a shield, and characters cannot safely grab edges when returning to the stage.Įach character represents a natural element, and this element is central to their play style.
TOWER OF HEAVEN RIVALS OF AETHER SERIES
The playable characters are Absa (lightning), Etalus (ice), Forsburn (smoke), Kragg (earth), Maypul (plant), Orcane (water), Wrastor (air), Zetterburn (fire), Ranno (poison), Clairen (plasma), Sylvanos (forest), Elliana (steam), and guest characters Ori and Sein from Ori and the Blind Forest, and Shovel Knight from the series of the same name. In Smash Bros., many characters possess only close-combat attacks, with most projectiles being very short-lived. By contrast, all Rivals characters have at least one move with a long-lasting effect on the stage itself, such as bubbles that trap enemies, ice that lets the user move quickly, or a water puddle that can either power up the user's attacks or act as a point for the user to teleport to. Some even create platforms that change the physical makeup of the stage. Cecilia D'Anastasio of Kotaku described Smash Bros.
